ACC – Net Game Coaching Effect

Some really good and consistent numbers in the ACC group of coaches.  Wake, BC and Georgia Tech have 3 of the top 10 game effect coaches in the country.  Virginia Tech is very odd in that they pull upset wins on the road all the time but get upset at home more than anyone else.

Only coach left in the ACC with a net negative game effect is Clemson’s head coach and staff.  The others that were negative were at North Carolina and Miami and were removed in 2011.  HC Dabo better win and win now in 2011.

Interesting that Beamer is only 5th in game coaching effect.

He has recruited stable and good classes over the years. The coaching effect leans toward those that ‘underrecruit’ within a conference. It doesn’t mean he cant do more with less as he has fewer chances to pull ‘upset’ wins within the Matrix. It just makes him much easier to predict. Look at him vs. Johnson. The CFBMatrix has been correct on 72% of Johnson’s games in the last 3 years vs 77% of Beamer’s. His downfall is failure to win at home as predicted. One of the few FBS teams that is much better on the road than at home.

What is never factored into rankings enough, imo, is teams like Georgia Tech that have very little attrition and teams that over recruit and bring in thugs who wash out.

Lot of those rankings are padded by guys who either never play or leave early.
